I came into this work the way most people come into healing. Not because I had it figured out. But because I didn’t.

I grew up in a proverbial cave, shaped by trauma, emotional dysregulation, and silence. I wore an identity handed to me, like clothing not made for me. I couldn’t escape it, though something underneath always knew there had to be more than what I was told.

There was.

It took me, as Brené Brown says, “a spiritual awakening” at thirty-five, with years of therapy to come to see what more life had to offer. After several years of study, I finally saw the Allegory of the Cave in a philosophy class in my first year of university. I instantly knew in the whole of my body that the shadows on the wall were representations of childhood trauma, handed-down projections being given as identity, but not truth.

Seeing the truth and living it are different. Leaving a cave you’ve lived in all your life doesn’t happen instantly; it begins with small moments that help your nervous system feel safe. At first, the light is confusing. Your system wants to retreat into the dark, even though it was never safe. Over time, your nervous system adjusts, and the world feels softer. It becomes easier to accept your truth and see the difference between what you were told and the outside world. I didn’t leave my cave in one dramatic moment. I gradually acclimatized, choosing each day to become a more authentic person.

I am a Registered Social Worker and Registered Early Childhood Educator with years of experience and training in human development, nervous system work, attachment, narrative, and trauma-informed practice. I founded Complex Growth and created the ROOTS program because I know firsthand what it costs to carry knowledge without yet having the capacity to act on it. To know better but not yet be able to reach it in the moments that count. That gap is not a character flaw, as our culture often frames it. It’s a nervous system waiting to feel safe and secure enough to change. Everything I offer here is designed to help you close that gap.

I don’t come to this work as an expert standing above your story. I come as someone a little further along the path, still learning from my own life and from everyone I sit with. My gift is listening to what lies beneath the words, remaining present without rushing you towards any version of healing that is not authentically yours

This is a place to slow down, to learn, to rest, and to be witnessed. A place for parents, individuals, leaders, or anyone standing in their own cave, wondering whether the light is real.

It is. And you do not have to find your way out alone.
